Radiohead - Creep

The music video for Radioheads song creep.
The entire music video is performance based which is similar to my music video however this music video is the band performing at a venue whereas my music video is my artist performing in different locations.
With this band being the most critically acclaimed band; the use of close ups in this video is vital and close ups is what my music video lacks. Most of the attention is on Thom Yorke which I think they should have had more attention on the rest of the members if they are trying to sell the band with this video, however Thom Yorke is always the main focus in each of their videos and is a great front man.
I like the use of the lighting as it works well with the song and the performance and emphasises the genre.
I think that longer and more cuts to the audience would be more affective.

Task 2: Audience Profile

Because my artist is a mixture between acoustic, folk and alternative its difficult to find an actual conventional character for this.

I think that the sort of audience who my artist is aimed at is the kind of people who wear casual clothing, for example a plain t shirt or jumper with jeans/trousers/shorts I dont think that this type of audience care a lot about what they look like however they dont go too outrageous. I think that this audience like to think they are more 'hippy' or 'skater' rather than the other conventional tribes.
I think that this audience like to go to festivals such as: Glastonbury or Hop Farm festival. I think that the acoustic and alternative fan are normally on the go. The folk fan is more likely to be some sort of vegetarian or vegan.

Hairstyles for folk, acoustic and alternative are not very important to the genre here are examples:
This is the folk singer/musician Neil Young, he is regarded as one of the most influential musicians of his generation. He clearly has no interest in style and his hair is long and matted however this is normally how folk singers are recognised; for their hippy look.

Ian Curtis the songwriter and singer for the alternative band Joy division.
His fashion is more rock based and his hair style is simple.
Although he is more contemporary than Neil Young he still has no interest in the fashion of his era.

There are not really any typical aspects to the genres of my artist. I also think that folk, acoustic and alternative fans and artists do not show any generic aspects to show people which kind of genre music fan they are I think that the only way they show this is through their lifestyle choices.

Matt Cardle - X factor

While watching the x factor this year I noticed that this act is similar to my artist. He changed a commercial, dancey song into an acoustic song which I think is more affective this way. Initially I thought that this was similar to my artist because of the singing with the guitar, however looking back at this contestants audition/bootcamp audition I realised his style corresponds with my artist - sort of scruffy and wears a hat. Matt Cardle is one of the favourites to win x factor I think this is because his fashion and his appearence is diverse to his style of singing. This aspect is also similar with my artist.
